Consumer Protection

The Directorate for Consumer is fully committed to ensuring the protection and rights of consumers.

As the Directorate is responsible for consumer legal protection policy, it strives to create an environment where consumers are informed, educated and protected. The Directorate also works actively to improve consumer policy in the internal market and at national level, ensuring that consumer rights are respected in all commercial transactions.

The Directorate is also committed to defending the passenger rights, ensuring that consumers are adequately protected when they travel.

Besides, the Directorate is working closely with the Conseil de la Consommation, the European Consumer Centre GIE and the Union luxembourgeoise des consommateurs to strengthen cooperation and the exchange of information in order to better protect consumer interests.

Responsible consumption is also a major concern for the Directorate, by actively encouraging responsible consumption practices, in particular by promoting informed choices.

Finally, the Directorate for Consumer Protection plays an essential role in monitoring price displays to ensure price transparency. To do this, the Directorate works closely with economic players, ensuring consumer confidence in the market.
